Feinstein Scholars

Before arriving at RWU, Feinstein Junior Scholars learn the value of civic scholarship by pledging to do good deeds in their Rhode Island communities. With a $500,000 gift from Alan Shawn Feinstein, RWU will welcome more junior scholars dedicated to making a difference.

Meet Feinstein Scholar Hannah Augustyn ’17

Architecture major; Construction Management, Art & Architectural History double minor

As a teenager, her pledge to do good deeds brought Hannah to Philadelphia to serve hot meals in soup kitchens and to Colorado to rebuild a public playground. When she arrived at Roger Williams, Hannah quickly discovered the myriad service opportunities available to students, once foregoing a spring break vacation to join RWU Habitat for Humanity in rehabilitating a disadvantaged family’s home in West Virginia. Her commitment to community won’t end with graduation. It continues two-fold with her career choice – construction management at Shawmut Construction. There she’ll take part in regularly held employee service days in local communities. And as a woman working in a male-dominated field, she’ll inspire the young female generation to keep cracking the glass ceiling.

RWU Law Dean's Scholars

Donors like you invest in the academic success of RWU Law Dean’s Scholars, enabling students with engaged learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

A few of this year’s crop of graduating Dean’s Scholars – Michael A. Thomas, Caroline J. Dias and Katherine E. Berling (pictured left to right) – clerked for R.I. Supreme Court and Superior Court judges, worked for a private law firm, brought home a Moot Court win for RWU Law, and wrote for RWU Law Review, among other professional and academic experiences. Those opportunities and connections have landed them all fabulous jobs – Berling secured a two-year clerkship with R.I. Supreme Court and Federal District Court; Dias netted a judicial clerkship with R.I. Superior Court; and Thomas claimed the role of assistant public defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
